Get Ready: We're Crowdfunding to Build a School in Haiti

Sat, 06/22/2013 - 14:44 -- Helena Cicmil

We're excited to announce that this autumn we are launching an online crowdfunding campaign! Our aim is to raise the funds we need for the permanent reconstruction of the Centre Rosalie girls' school complex in Haiti. Can you help us prepare by following us on Facebook and twitter today?

Our campaign video will launch in the next few weeks; keep your eyes peeled. Donors will be able to choose how much they want to give and get a special reward in return. We'll have a time limit to reach our target, so we have to reach out to as many people as possible as soon as we launch. This is where you come in!

We're hoping you'll help us get the crowd we need in time for launch day by (re)tweeting us @thinkingdevelop, sharing our updates on Facebook and asking your friends and colleagues to do the same. Can you put a link to our campaign on your site? This would make a great difference to the success of our launch; your visitors would see that if they take a few minutes, they could help get this Haitian girls' school built. Please get in touch if that's something you'd like to do, or if you have other ideas.

Your support is invaluable. Three years have passed since the horrific 2010 earthquake, and one of Port-au-Prince's largest girls' schools is still operating primarily out of small temporary buildings with reduced admissions and no drinking water. Three years of designing a safe and eco-friendly school complex with the community has proven how challenging it is for a small 100% volunteer-run NGO to get funding. This campaign offers new hope.
